The Rescue: A Recap

The Rescue was EPIC. That’s the only way to describe it. It was by far the best experience of my life. I was around some of the most amazing people I have ever met. Although the experience was quite impossible to put into words, I’ve put together this recap to try and describe my experience:
I started in Austin on Saturday (http://tinyurl.com/qfssql). Camped out on the capitol lawn for three days until we got “rescued” on Monday by two state representatives and two senators. (wrote letters to Senators and state reps, played a 200+ person game of duck-duck-goose, hung out with a homeless truck driver named Chuck, met a guy named Dallas who was eating shrooms for 30 days straight because he was a vision quest to become a Cherokee shaman, stood in the rain for hours in the form of a peace sign singing “Lean On Me” and other songs of that nature)
I then became a Rescue Rider (http://www.vimeo.com/4252278). I drove to Wichita, KS in a single cab truck with two guys I had pretty much just met. Got there at 3:30ish in the morning. Woke up at 9:30ish and got rescued by Senator Brownback. (http://tinyurl.com/dcnao9) Hung around Wichita waiting for the bus full of Rescue Riders from the west coast to arrive before we headed to Chicago (the only city to not be rescued yet).
Left Kansas at 8:00 pm and arrived in Chicago at 9:30 the next morning. Slept in a church until about 2:00 then went to downtown Chicago to be visible. Rode the subway to another church in southside Chicago because we got kicked out of the old one. Slept (http://tinyurl.com/qq7qz9).
Woke up. Put together a musical number in an hour and half (http://tinyurl.com/cltmxj). Went to Harpo studios and performed outside 5 times before someone called the cops on us (http://tinyurl.com/cst8fb). Unsuccessful. Went to eat the best deep dish pizza in Chicago. Went to a church in Munster, Indiana because it was the only place we could stay for free.
Left that church at 3:00 am to go back to Harpo before Oprah got to work (http://tinyurl.com/olctqw). Surrounded the whole block with people holding up peace signs for two hours in the Chicago cold (taking shifts going to Starbucks to warm up) waiting for her to get there (http://tinyurl.com/opacjm). She got there, talked to us, put us on the show (http://tinyurl.com/8kyzmz).
Woo! We’re rescued! (http://tinyurl.com/ddb39m)
Went to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field and walked around Chicago (saw this amazing little kid playing the drums on a corner http://tinyurl.com/p6j7ad). Went back to Munster, Indiana to sleep.
Woke up. Drove 20+ hours back to Texas.
So what’s the next step? (http://www.howitends.tv)
