SAY WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY
Lobby Days is where the magic happens. And by magic, we mean the practical and powerful means of advocacy. Our message is strong, but we need your voice to amplify it on Capitol Hill.
Last week, Senators Russ Feingold (D-WI), Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Representatives Jim McGovern (D-MA), Brad Miller (D-NC) and Ed Royce (R-CA) introduced the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act of 2009 to help end LRA violence in northern Uganda and neighboring countries. The bipartisan act would require the Obama Administration to develop a strategy within 120 days to “apprehend or otherwise remove Joseph Kony from the battlefield.” The bill also authorizes funding for humanitarian assistance in LRA-affected areas, as well as additional funds for recovery efforts in northern Uganda.
And the timing is impeccable as Lobby Days is approaching. Your attendance is crucial to rallying support for this legislation. You (yes, you) have a unique chance to convince your leaders that this conflict deserves notice from the world and inaction is no longer an option. So sign up, and if you can’t make it to DC, give and help support the rescue efforts.
